On Aug. 25, CSHS hosted its first pep rally of the year, kicking off the start of the football season. The Dragons faced off against El Paso Eastwood in a 70-21 victory Friday evening.

The pep rally included performances from the JV and varsity cheerleaders, the Carroll Dragon Band, and the Emerald Belles. Members of the Carroll Dragon Band played school songs, stand tunes, and drum line cadences, including a music feature from their 2023 Marching Show, La Vie Est Belle.

“I really enjoyed the Belles’ show and I also had a great time playing with the band,” senior band member Safiy Islam said.

The pep rally also featured a Dragon football history Q&A with the El Paso Eastwood mascot, Sarge the Trooper, played by school resource officer Frank Rogers and members of CREW.

“My favorite part of the pep rally was when we all sang the fight song,” junior crew member Ollie Kim said. “It was really fun hyping each other up.”

Junior STUCO member, John Askew was emceeing alongside Principal Ryan Wilson.

“We’re gonna bring some noise,” Askew said. “We’ll make sure that the team knows that the Dragons don’t mess around.”
