Volleyball
This past week the Lady Dragon volleyball team beat the Mansfield Legacy Broncos (6-6) taking all three sets and securing the bi-district title. Continuing to the most recent round, taking place on Nov. 4, the Lady Dragons swept the El Paso Coronado Thunderbirds (7-5) winning three consecutive sets. This win awarded the team the area title.
“Our team has prioritized team bonding and try our best to pour into our connections on and off the court,” sophomore Finley Orr said. “We have a routine before every game that helps set our minds right and gets us ready to perform.”
Aiming to add to their record of 31-5, the team, now 13-3 in district play, advances to the third round of playoffs on Nov. 7, against the Plano West Wolves (14-2) at Marcus High School.

Football
The Dragons head into playoffs with another 10-0 season, securing the last win against the Keller Central Chargers (5-4) with a score of 49-3. Max Preps places Southlake Carroll as the second team in the state of Texas, narrowly trailing Allen’s overall rating of 74.2. However, Allen has yet to finish their regular season play, allowing room for change before playoff season officially begins. As we wait for the schedule to be published for the first round, the Dragons continue training in preparation for the championship.
“All year we have been saying it’s not about who we play,” senior Jake Lucky said. “They have all been nameless faces and this round is no different. It’s just head down, going to work and extending our season one more week.”

Cross Country
Last weekend, Carroll’s seventh consecutive state championship title was awarded to the boys cross country team, with senior Caden Leonard awarded his third personal first-place win with a time of 14:42 in the 5K race. Sophomore Kai Gutierrez was another major contributor, securing fourth place.
“When you finish a race, you put your body through something that not many other people do,” Leonard said. “You get that feeling of knowing you accomplished something special, and decide the pain is worth it.”
The Lady Dragons had a great run this season, with a second place finish in regionals, and advancing to state for the 29th time.
“I’m really proud of the team and all of the work they put in this season,” junior Annalise Bell said. The teams have the opportunity to compete in the Nike Cross Country regional meet, where they can progress to nationals from a top two spot. “We’re excited for another shot at NXR, and hope to see great success,” Bell said.
Basketball
Basketball season is nearly here, and both boys and girls teams have started practices in preparation for the first home games. The boys will debut on Nov. 14 against Plano West, while the girls take on Grapevine on the Nov. 11.
“We wake up early and put in the work,” junior Noah Johnson said. “Heading into this season, we won’t be surprised by anything.”
Wrestling
Dragon Wrestling will take to the mat for their first match against Grapevine on Thursday at Carroll High School at 4:30pm.
“Our team is ready,” senior Cora Hayes said. “We’ve really upped our practices. We’ve gone harder, training has gotten harder, and we’re excited.”
