As October wraps up, Dragon Sports had an exciting back half. On Oct. 17 the varsity football team (8-0) defeated the Northwest Texans (2-5) 57-7 during the annual Pink Out game. Senior running back Davis Penn had an outstanding game with 97 yards on the ground and three TDs.
Earlier that day, Lady Dragon water polo (18-6) wrapped up the fall season, with a loss to Marcus (25-1), 15-9 in the IDWP regional finals.
That following Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Lady Dragon varsity volleyball team (27-5) defeated the LD Bell Raiders (7-19), three sets to none, marking this year’s senior night. The Dragons demonstrated a dominant performance by allowing no more than 11 points in each set, showcasing their superior defense.
The freshman football team remained undefeated following a win at LD Bell with a score of 35-14 on Oct. 23.
Most recently, the Southlake Carroll Swim team finished first at the Dragon Hunt Swim Meet on Oct. 25. More than 400 swimmers from 13 DFW teams competed for “screaming rubber chickens” at the meet that features the annual favorite “Rubber Chicken Relay.” The Dragons had seven first-place individual finishes and many more top-three finishes. Additionally, every Carroll relay team finished in the top three, with every girls’ relay team finishing first, showcasing their dominant performance.
As November arrives, the Dragons look to continue winning and protecting the tradition.
