Dr. Jeremy Glenn officially started his tenure as the district’s superintendent on Sept. 1 after being unanimously approved by the school board at its Aug. 26 meeting.
Glenn was the superintendent at Granbury ISD for the past six years and served as the superintendent of Waxahachie ISD from 2013-2018.
“I’ve been in this business as a city manager for 27 years, and I’ve never experienced the amount of collaboration and cooperation and success that Dr. Glenn has brought to our community,” Granbury city manager Chris Kaufman said at the school board meeting.
Glenn was announced as the lone finalist for superintendent on Aug. 5 but could not be appointed until 21 days later due to Texas Government Code Section 552.126.
“Joining the Carroll Independent School District as superintendent is a profound honor,” Glenn said. “I am dedicated to protecting our tradition of excellence and working collaboratively with our talented staff, engaged parents, and the broader community to not only ensure every Dragon reaches their full potential, but to navigate and successfully lead this district through this season of statewide public education financial challenges.”
His appointment comes after Dr. Lane Ledbetter’s retirement announcement in April. Ledbetter will continue to serve Carroll ISD in an advisory capacity under the title of Superintendent Emeritus until he officially departs in December.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to each member of the Board as well as each of you for your trust and support throughout my tenure,” Ledbetter said in an email to CISD faculty. “Serving Carroll ISD, a district that holds a special place in my heart as my alma mater has been an honor, and I will forever cherish the opportunity to give back to the community that has done so much for me and my family.”
As Granbury ISD superintendent, Glenn’s accomplishments include increasing academic achievement scores districtwide, partnering with higher education, and passing a voter-approval tax ratification election to increase staff salaries.
“He’s one in a million,” Granbury ISD parent and deputy city manager Michael Ross said. “He is certainly one of the leaders of our community. Dr. Glenn walks the talk and there’s no doubt about that.”
The new superintendent is bringing “Dr. Glenn’s 3-Pointers” to Carroll, a monthly newsletter with district highlights and reminders.
“I can’t wait to get to know the incredible students and faculty at our schools,” Glenn said in a Q&A on the Dragon eBlast. “I am proud to be joining Dragon Nation, a district with such a rich tradition of success.”
