Last weekend, Dragon Media received news that KDGN was the recipient of one of the highest journalism awards in the state: a Bronze Star award from the Interscholastic League Press Conference, an affiliate of UIL. In order to qualify for a Star Award, a publication or production must first receive the highest critique and then be nominated by a panel of judges. This is the first Star for broadcast since 2016 and a very high honor given to only 11 broadcasts in Texas. In addition to the Star award, individual achievements in broadcast excellence were awarded to students in the following categories:
