On Sept. 15, the Chinese Club, along with the National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS), hosted their first meeting of the year in the CHS Lecture Hall. The kick-off meeting revolved around the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is traditionally celebrated in September.
“Seeing so many people be invested in learning about the Chinese culture of the Mid-Autumn Festival was really cool,” NCHS officer senior Maddie Tran said.
The meeting had a series of introductions (the club board and NCHS officers), as well as ice-breaker activity and a raffle. Throughout the meeting, different mooncakes were available to try, and the members also decorated paper lanterns.
“There were so many people across all grades,” NCHS senior president Elizabeth Boyd said. “I had a blast talking to new friends.”
Club president, junior Owen Hindman, hopes to expand the club and keep learning about Chinese culture in the coming year.
“I’m excited to continue sharing the amazing food and traditions of Chinese culture,” Hindman said.
