Football

The Dragon football team celebrated a Homecoming win against district opponent Keller Timber Creek 44-7. Junior wide receiver Brock Boyd led the Dragons with 213 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. The Dragons are now 5-0 overall and 3-0 in district play. The Dragons will play district rival 3-2 Keller at Keller ISD Stadium on October 4 at 7 p.m.

Volleyball

The Lady Dragon Volleyball team continued district play against Keller Central. The Lady Dragons lost in 5 sets to the Chargers moving their overall record to 19-9 and are currently ranked fifth in district play. Junior Layla Austin led the team with 12 kills. Following a bye this past Friday, the Lady Dragons will be back in action for round two of district play against first-place Byron Nelson on Tuesday.

Cross Country

This week Carroll runners competed in the Nike South meet in Houston . The elite boys 5000 meter race was led by Carroll sophomore Jaxon Glenn with a time of 15:57.30. Carroll won the race with 119 points scored overall. The team is preparing for the 4-6A district meet on October 10 at Bob Jones Park in Southlake.

Water Polo

Boys Water Polo faced off in two games last week against South Grand Prarie on Sept 24 winning 18-3 and Highland Park on Sept 27 winning 19-8. Water Polo is currently 1st in district and 16th in the nation with a record of 4-0. The nationally ranked girls water polo team is 1st in district with a record of 3-0 beating Sachase on Sept 24 18-10 and Highland Park on Sept 27 13-9.

Ben Randall, Dragon Sports Media Team Lead

Ben Randall is a junior at Carroll Senior High School, and is heading into his third year as a Dragon Media staff member. Ben hopes to attend the University of Nebraska – Lincoln for Sports Media & Communications or any other top 10 sports journalism university. His dream is to work as a play-by-play reporter for ESPN or any big sports television network. Ben is an active member of the national finalist Carroll Dragon Band as a squad leader, and Christ Alone Lutheran Church in Keller as an usher. When he’s not in the band bleachers or announcing for a variety of sports, he likes to travel with his friends and modify his car. His music taste is very broad, but he loves to listen to A$AP Rocky and MF DOOM. The opportunity to give sports fans an unforgettable experience while also traveling around the community is why he loves to work in the media field so much, and why he is ecstatic about working with a UIL Bronze Star winning program at Dragon Media.

Ava Cottingham, Dragon Sports Media Team Lead

Ava Cottingham is a senior at Carroll Senior High School. This is her second year in Dragon Media as a sports journalist and photographer. Some of Ava’s notable accomplishments are that she was a part of the KDGN sports desk team that won a UIL Bronze Star Award, was inducted into Carroll Senior High School’s chapter of Quill & Scroll, and was awarded an honorable mention for an ILPC State Journalism Award for her student-athlete feature piece. When she isn’t writing or taking pictures, Ava enjoys playing club volleyball, watching the Denver Broncos with her dad, working out, and listening to music. Eventually, Ava hopes to work for ESPN in sports journalism.

Cael Jacobson, Dragon Sports Media Staff

Cael Jacobson is a Carroll Senior High School student. He is a first-year Dragon Sports Media student. He is a part of the great bronze star-winning program that is Dragon Media.

Grayson King, Dragon Sports Media Staff

Grayson is a Sports Media 1 student in 10th grade. He took the class because he likes sports. He can bench 210 lbs.

Andrew Klepikow, Dragon Sports Media Staff

Andrew Klepikow is a junior at the school Carroll Senior High School. He is a 1st year student in the Dragon Sports Media program. His hobbies include talking to friends, listening to music and watching basketball. He is glad to be a part of a award winning program like Dragon Media.

Cailyn Cashon, KDGN Team Director, Yearbook Sports Editor

Cailyn Cashon is a 16-year-old junior at Carroll Sr. High School. She is going into her third year in Dragon Media and is the sports editor for the yearbook. She also is a returning member of KDGN announcements. She hopes to attend The University of Texas at Austin or Texas A&M to study sports broadcasting and journalism. When she’s not on the sidelines with a camera, she is editing her photos. The inclusive, educational, and enjoyable environment of media classes is why she spends countless hours in room 115.
