The Lady Dragon softball team is deep in district play, facing Fossil Ridge and Timber Creek last week. Taking home both wins, the girls beat Fossil Ridge 14-2, and Keller Timber Creek 11-1. The girls will continue their district title hunt against Keller on April 5 at home. They are currently 6-1 in district play, trailing behind first place Keller High School.
Varsity girls soccer continued their playoff run with a win in the UIL area championship against Midland High School on March 28th, furthering their record of 24-0-1 overall. “Playoffs is the most exciting and fun time of the year,” senior Laney Maclin said. “Everything is heightened and everything’s always on the line. I love all of the traditions my teammates and I get to carry on and experience.” Looking ahead, the Lady Dragons will face off against Prosper in the UIL regional semifinals at 10 a.m. at McKinney ISD Stadium.
The varsity boys soccer team finished their season after losing the area round of playoffs on March 28 with a 0-2 loss against El Paso Eastlake. Several Dragons earned district 4-6A superlatives including captain Fife Adeyemo being named as the district Co-MVP, John Skiermont as the Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Charlie Su as the district Utility Player of the Year and Hyoung Ju Kim ast he district Midlfield Newcomer of the Year. The Dragons finish up as District 4-6A runner-ups, bi-district champions, area finalists, and end with an overall record of 14-7-2.
The Carroll golf teams participated in the District 4-6A Tournament this past week at Rockwood Golf Course. Freshman Gia Ahlowalia emerged as the district 4-6A girls Champion and sophomore Andrea Birolini was named as the boys district 4-6A Champion. Both the boys and girls teams were named District 4-6A Champions and will advance the the Regional Tournament in mid April.
The Dragon baseball team played Keller High School last week and split the series. The Dragons are currently 13-8 overall and 2-3 in district 4-6A play. They will take on district opponent Keller Central on April 5th and non-district opponent Rockwall on April 6.
Last week the Dragon track teams participated in the Dragon Relays on March 28th. Southlake Carroll had many elite performances coming from both the boys and girls teams. Distance runner Alexandra Walsh ran a 4:59 mile and distance runner Ryan Van de Berghe ran a 4:16 mile. Sophomore Caden Leonard recorded a time of 8:53 in the 3200 meter race – the sixth fastest time in the nation. The Dragons will run in the district 4-6A meet on April 4.
