The Lady Dragon soccer team took on the Fossil Ridge Panthers last Wednesday night, defeating them 12-0. This win increases their overall record to 17-0 and their district record to 7-0, sitting first in district play. “LDS has such a great culture,” junior captain Hannah Jordan said. “We always show up for one another and make the most of the time we have together.” Looking ahead, the Lady Dragons begin the second round of district play with hopes to continue their winning streak against the Keller Indians on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
The Dragon soccer team took on the Fossil Ridge Panthers last Tuesday. They managed to pull away with a tie despite being down 1-0 late in the game. On Feb. 16 they defeated Keller Timber Creek 2-1 win to bring their district record to 3-2-1. “As we start the second round of district we’ve been playing very well, and the results show that,” said head coach Chris Padilla. “We aim to build on those performances, pish for a district title, and be playing our best soccer come playoff time.” Looking ahead, the Dragons play Keller, their biggest match of district play, at Dragon Stadium on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Dragon basketball team concluded regular season play with an overall record of 21-8 and finished district play 8-4, sitting in third place. They spent the week preparing for their Bi-District playoff game against Chisholm Trial on Feb. 20 at Birdville High School. The Dragonsloko to advance to the Area round of UIL playoffs.
The Dragon wrestlers competed at the UIL 6A Texas State Championship last week and sophomore Dylan Ota finished the weekend as the 106 lb. UIL 6A State Champion after defeating J. Shipley of Dripping Springs. Sophomore wrestler Cora Hayes competed in the girls state quarterfinals, finishing the weekend 2-2.
Lady Dragon basketball competed against the Trail Blazers from El Paso Americas on February 15. Carroll was named Area champions with a score of 69-41. The Lady Dragons play the Frenship Tigers from Wolfforth, TX in the UIL state quarter-finals on Feb. 20th in the hopes of advancing to the regional tournament.
Carroll softball went undefeated in the NFCA Leadoff Classic and is 7-0 in preseason play. “The Bryan trip is that preseason trip [we] look forward to whether you are a player or a coach,” assistant coach Callie Gressett said. “We get to grow together as a team [and] this year we went undefeated . It was fun getting to celebrate the successes and adds to the anticipation for this season.” They will play at Coppell on Feb. 20 and then travel to the Allen tournament later this week.
