Last week in swim and dive the Carroll Dragons participated in the District 4-6A meet at the Elise Cerami Aquatics Center. The boys team took second place behind Keller, with the Dragons scoring 178 points. Quin Tyler and Jack Hernandez were high point earners placing this and fourth. The girls team won the district meet with a score of 199 points. Quin Tyler and Jack Hernandez placed third and fourth in the High Point Section.
Advancing their overall record of 12-0, varsity girls soccer played Timber Creek on Jan. 23 winning 3-1. “Timber Creek was a good first test for this team. They are very athletic and have a relentless fight,” sophomore Kamdyn Fuller said. “I think we are getting better as a team every time we step on the field, and I am excited to see what this team will accomplish in the future.”
With this win, the Lady Dragons are 2-0 in district play and 2nd in district rankings behind Byron Nelson who is 3-0. Looking ahead, the Lady Dragons continue district play against Keller on Jan. 30 and Keller Central on Feb. 2.

Sophomore Caden Leonord was awarded Gatorade Player of the Year. Only one athlete per sport in each state can receive this award.
“Winning Texas Gatorade Player of theYear is an honor and a tribute to his dedication to the sport,” coach and father Justin Leonard said. “Individual success emerges from great teams that challenge each other daily.” Leonard finished the Texas UIL Class 6A state meet with a time of 15:00.1, leading the Dragons to the 6A Cross Country team state title this past fall.
The Lady Dragons varsity basketball team went up against the Keller Central Chargers this past Saturday and walked away with a win, defeating the Chargers 55-30. This increases the Lady Dragons’ overall record to 25-5 and their district record to 9-0, making them first in district play. “It always feels good to get a win like this,” junior Milania Jordan said. “It makes the whole team feel good.” Looking ahead, the Lady Dragons are preparing for their matchups at home against V.R. Eaton on Jan. 30 and Byron Nelson on Feb. 2, both at 5:45 p.m.
Last week the Dragon wrestling team held senior night against Prosper at Carroll High School. The boys varsity team won with a score of 48-12. The girls varsity team also prevailed with a score of 32-12. This week Carroll will host the district 4-6A tournament in which the Dragon wrestling team will face off against schools throughout the district. “I’m looking forward to the meet and I’m excited I get to miss some school,” JV wrestler Ethan Menezes said.
Last week the boys basketball team played two district games. On Jan. 23 they lost 48-27 to Keller. On Jan. 26 the boys were back in action against Keller Central, winning 65-42. The Dragons are currently 5-3 in district play sitting in third place. They will be back on the home court this week against V.R. Eaton on Jan. 30 and Byron Nelson on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
