Soccer
On Jan. 18, the Dragons boys soccer team defeated Cedar Hill 4-0. They finished off the preseason 4-3-1 and will prepare to play their first district game against Keller Timber Creek on Jan. 23. “We’re very happy with the way the preseason has gone,” head coach Chris Padilla said. “Playing quality teams in the preseason gives us opportunities to learn about our team and go into district battle-tested and prepared to fight for a district title.”

Before traveling out of town, the Lady Dragons played their first district game versus Timber Creek, winning 3-1. Continuing their undefeated record of 11-0, varsity girls soccer traveled to Georgetown from Jan. 18-20 where they competed in the Governor’s Cup, winning all of their matches. They defeated New Braunfels 5-1, Harlingen 8-1 and Kingwood 7-1. “Each game was a different test for us that we were determined to handle,” senior captain Kenzi Tufts said. “We hope to return to Georgetown in April for the state tournament.” The Lady Dragons are currently first in district with a district record of 1-0 and prepare to rematch Timber Creek at home on Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Basketball
The Lady Dragon varsity basketball team played against Timber Creek on Jan. 14, claiming victory with a score of 67-40. Prior to the game, junior Malania Jordan was celebrated for achieving a program record milestone by being inducted into the 1000 point club. The Lady Dragons now hold an overall record of 23-5 and are currently in first place in district play.

This past week, the varsity boys basketball team improved their overall record to 17-6 with a 61-49 win over Keller Timber Creek on Jan. 17. The boys are currently in second place in district play with a record of 4-2. The Dragons will face the Keller Indians at home on Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.

Swim and Dive
The Dragon and Lady Dragon swim and dive teams celebrated their senior night this past Thursday facing off against St. Marks. The girls 200 medley relay of Olivia Colombo, Avery Hafele, Emma Bibza, and Marin Clem set a new pool record of 1:43.60. “I’m definitely not ready for the season to be done, but I’m happy to leave the pool [with] a new record with Olivia Colombo, Emma Bibza and Marin Clem by my side,” senior Avery Hafele said. The boys 400 freestyle relay of Max Hatcher, Matteo Palmisani, Alex Schwartz, and Quinn Tyler set a new pool record of 3:03.56. Both teams prepare for the championship season this week with the district 4-6A championship meet at Northwest ISD on Friday and Saturday.

Wrestling
Dragon wrestling participated in the 6A State Dual Championship in which the boys battled through 5 tough duals to achieve All-State. They defeated Lake Travis, Houston Clear Lake, and EP Eastwood. On Feb. 1 the Dragons will compete in the District 4-6A district meet which will take place at Carroll High School.
