Carroll Choir hosted its annual winter concert on Dec. 11 along with the middle school choirs. The concert is filled with holiday happiness and fun, helps students showcase their talent for family, friends, and faculty and allows them to see their fellow students perform.
“I thought the concert went well,” sophomore Ashley Ju said. “There were a few fumbles, but we managed to make it through. I liked watching the other choirs and soloists perform instead of being backstage all the time and they all sounded great, so it was a good time.”
The concert was an opportunity for people to come together, support the school, and celebrate the holidays, all while watching students perform. Students performed group songs like “The Phone Song,” performed by Encore, “Somewhere in My Memory” from Home Alone, performed by Bella Voce, and “Hark I Hear the Harps Eternal,” performed by Chorale. Students also auditioned for solo songs.
“I feel like I did pretty well, especially on my solo performance of ‘Jingle Bell Rock,’” senior Hari Vasudevan said.
At the end of the concert, everyone came together to close out the show by singing “Peace, Peace.”
“I think the concert went amazing and we had a great turnout,” junior Fabiha Oyshi said. “We were all worried at first because we didn’t think we were prepared enough,” Oyshi said, “but then the concert ended up going smoothly and we all had a lot of fun watching each other perform.”
Overall, the concert was an experience for audience members and performers alike to enjoy.
“This year’s concert was truly one of the best,” Vasudevan said. “Everyone worked very hard and all performances sounded well-rehearsed. I’m so proud of everyone and can’t wait to continue our hard work into our UIL and Pop Show seasons.”
