Summer haze
Where have our Dragons been over vacation?
September 23, 2016
Overplayed pop songs on the radio, wild concerts, the Starbucks “pink drink” craze, and lots of Chick-fil-A – typical Southlake highlights of summer 2016. Not only did people make memories here, students traveled to many places and also went on mission trips. Here are where some of our Dragons deem the highlights of their summer:
“I love going on mission trips because I can grow stronger spiritually and strengthen relationships with close friends. The connections I get to make are amazing and mission trips are probably some of the favorite parts of my summer.”
– Allie Coates (11)
“I went to Italy for the first time this past summer with my family and it was, in one word, beautiful. Everything was very historic, it was a great place for tourists. The food was also amazing, I love everything pasta so I just fell in love with their dishes.”
– Malini Chandra (11)
“I went on a cruise over the summer and I miss being able to eat as much as I want for dinner for free. I basically ate steak and lobster for every meal for a week and a half. Amazing, right?”
– Jazz Hooper (12)
“I spent a good amount of time in my room because air conditioning is fantastic. Absolutely brilliant. I advise everyone to turn on their AC’s and get into their beds. Best part of summer, hands down.”
– Mo Gyeong Seong (12)
“I went to Seattle over the summer and I loved the entire environment and culture of the West coast. I really miss the livelihood and acceptance of the people there.”
– Michael Olson (12)
“I went to Boston and New York for four weeks this summer! My favorite part about traveling to the northeast is the diversity that encompasses those large cities; there are so many different cultures thriving within them and so there are endless opportunities to learn. I definitely miss the food (there’s no dim sum like NYC Chinatown dim sum) and just walking around the city and people watching. Although I went to several, I really wish I had gotten to visit more art museums.”
– Ellie MacLean (12)
