UIL Academic Team Places Second in Regional Meet, Advances to State
This past weekend 60 schools competed in the Region 1-6A UIL Academic Meet at the University of Texas at Arlington. Carroll finished in second place and students in four categories will advance to the State meet on May 7. Achievement in the UIL Academic State contests also adds points toward the UIL Lone Star Cup for the district. The UIL Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications, based on their team performance in district and state championships. Carroll is currently in first place for the cup with 83 points.
In order to advance to Region then State, these academic competitors had to place in the top three at the District Meet held earlier in the spring. During that meet Carroll won the District 4-6A Academic Overall Sweepstakes and advanced competitors in 11 categories.
