Insight on what’s happening this summer in DFW

April 18, 2018

Summer is getting closer and that means vacation time. Many students have already planned their summer vacations out of the state or even out of the country. Even if you can’t leave Texas, there are plenty of places to explore and sights to see in the DFW area.

To start, there are many musicals and plays happening in DFW. You can go see “The Lion King” or “Love Never Dies, The Phantom Returns” at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Want to stay local? The Marq at Southlake hosts movie nights in the park, with many family-friendly films including: “Cars 3”, “Coco”, “Mulan”, and “Beauty and the Beast”. Also, Grapevine puts on a firework display at the Gaylord Hotel until August 31. On July 3, Southlake is holding their annual “Stars and Stripes” event right in Southlake Town Square with a firework display to celebrate July 4.

If you are more into sporting events, you can visit Globe Life Park in Arlington to experience a Texas Rangers baseball game. To make a baseball game into a full day outing, you can head right next door to visit Six Flags Over Texas to enjoy theme park food and some of the tallest rides in the Lone Star State.

In the heart of downtown Dallas, you can visit the American Airlines Center for an assortment of concerts and other festivities. To kick off summer, grab tickets to see Harry Styles: Live On Tour on June 5, Maroon 5 on June 9 and Sam Smith on July 20. Can’t make it to Dallas? Head over to the Toyota Music Factory in Irving for concerts, food and other festivals. The Music Factory has a host of things to do, from seeing Post Malone (June 14) or Paramore (July 14) to grabbing a bite to eat or a popsicle at their “Pop Factory.”

Even if you can’t get out of town for summer break, there are many things happening around Dallas and Fort Worth that you won’t want to miss.
